  • Weeding
  • Fertilise plants
  • Dead head flowers
  • Prune and shape hedge plants
  • Tidy old bulbs (do not cut off dead growth - it feeds the bulbs - just tie it up or hide amongst other plants)

Root Vegetables: Beetroot, Carrots, Parsnips
Brassicas: Broccoli, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Mustard
Mediterranean Vegetables: Capsicum, Chilli, Tomatoes, Eggplants
Gourds and assorted: Pumpkins, Squash, Zucchini, Corn, Cucumber

HARVEST NOW

  • Lettuce
  • Asian Greens
  • Tomatoes
  • Zucchinis
  • Eggplants
  • Potatoes
  • Stone Fruit

USING YOUR PRODUCE: TOMATO RELISH
About this time of year I start to get a huge glut of summer produce with loads of zucchinis, tomatoes, stone fruit and alike. I regularly make jams and preserves to ensure that nothing goes to waste. My favourite tomato preserve is Spicy Tomato Relish. It takes almost four hours to make but it is worth the effort. My recipe can be downloaded here:Spicy Tomato Relish Recipe

GROWING PARSLEY

Parsley is an easy to grow herb and a great addition to any kitchen garden.  It is a great companion plant for vegetables and flowers alike, and can be grow in pots or planted directly into the garden. It makes a great border plant. It required very little attention but will go to seed quickly in heat waves. You can download the parsley fact sheet here: Parsley Fact Sheet

ORDERING PLANTS ON-LINE

Have you ever thought about ordering plants on line but were not sure of it was worth it? I personally order a number of different items on line during the course of a year.  I have never had any issues receiving items, or with items dying/not taking/arriving in poor condition.  I have ordered bulbs, seeds, seedlings, seed potatoes, fruit trees, and gardening tools and ornaments on line. I have use the following suppliers regularly:
  • Diggers Club https://www.diggers.com.au
