July - 5

Well it is the last day of July and after a month of rain we have a day of sunshine.  I have finished painting the shed at last and have finished the small boardwalk around the side of the house.  I have also oiled the edges of the deck - but still have the surface and furniture to do.  I am getting loads done and hoping that the slightly warmer weather will mean good growth for the plants.  There should be new photos in the slide show too.

Future blog plans:
1 page for plants and produce
1 page for landscape work
A photo log with one from each month since I started to show the progress

I have no idea how long it will take me to set that up :)

July - 4

Well I got some good work done yesterday - finished painting the side fence, put down some bark around the finished board walk, harvested the potatoes and did some weeding.  I was really hoping to finish some more landscaping and painting today but the rain is way to heavy.

More soon - and I am planning to add a month by month sequence of photos at the base of the page.

July - 3

Half way through winter already and we have had some really hard frosts here.  My greens are doing well as always but I haven't had much life from the cabbages and broccoli yet - although I must admit that the Broccolini is starting to look a bit happier.  I have set in the trellis for the berries and have almost finished painting the side fence.  I have finished off the garden edges and hopefully you will be able to notice a big difference in the end of month photos.

On a more practical note I have finally found a brand of garden gloves I really like - they are the Pope brand.  I think that Pope mainly do hose fittings and alike but the gloves are great.  Better go close up the shed - it is about to rain again.

See you soon

July -2

Another week has flown by already!  Well I have managed to get a bit more of that fence painted, put up another apple trellis, planted some more seed, reset the retaining wall and started work on the ramp up into the garden area.  The greens are doing well and producing plenty of salad, and there are still loads of potatoes coming but aside from that not much else doing on the winter veg yet.  I am really hoping that you will notice a big difference in the yard when I post more photos at the end of the month.

July -1

I can't believe that we are into July already.  I have had some success with the veg but my spinach seems to have failed.  I will try and put in another set of seeds and hopefully get it to come good before it is too late. I have put up a couple of new photos but have actually done a lot of week this weekend so they are out of date already.  I should have finished painting all of the back and side fences (not done the side of the house - I don't think that the weather will hold out to do the whole lot), garden edges and hopefully the shed roof. I have also put in two garden arches for peas, tomatoes and the sweet peas in Spring.  Loads of work to do but it is all moving forward.
