January update 3

Well I have done some more work on the garden bed edging and put down more sugar cane mulch this week.  I have also set up supports for the tomato plants so hopefully this will help them along and keep the fruit off the ground.  If I get a sunny day today I will take some more photos.  I managed to get quite badly sunburnt yesterday even though it was overcast and rather cool.

Summer Veg

I am very pleased that my tomato and lettuce crop are doing so well.  Dreadful floods and weather conditions have meant that the prices of salad vege are sky high at the moment.  I am waiting for the zucchini, egg plant and chillies to be ready too.

I am doing some landscaping work at the moment too (haven't been able to paint the fence because of the rain here) so hopefully there will be some obvious improvement in my next lot of photos

January update 2

Well we have had a big week of rain here and there have been terrible floods right across the country.  Things are not that bad here though.  The garden is absolutely sodden and I am hoping that the lovely weekend ahead will give me the chance to check over the tomatoes to ensure that there is enough airflow to avoid fungus and alike.  The sugar can mulch I put down last week seems to be keeping the random weed growth at bay so that is something.  I am also hoping to finish painting the shed if the weather holds out.

I am really hoping to get loads more done on the garden this year and hopefully get it to the point where I don't have to worry about landscaping and can just concentrate on the produce.

New Year

Happy New Year!

Well I came back from holidays to find a garden full of weeds - so it looks like a month of weeding, pruning and landscaping for me.  The heat has started up so it will be important to keep the watering up.  The tomatoes are just starting to ripen which is great, and the lettuce is ongoing - so salad season here I come.
